Since strawberries is the focus of this week's blogpon and one of our daily specials, here is a recipe for a delightful and wonderful strawberry dessert. Reportedly this recipe is a favorite among the Russian culture.
Strawberry Romanoff
Strawberries Romanoff
(Makes 4-6 servings)
You will need:
2 pints fresh strawberries, rinsed, hulled, and sliced in half or quarters if large
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup orange flavored liqueur (Grand Marnier, Curacao, or Cointreau)
1 cup cold heavy (whipping) cream
1/2 cup sour cream
3 tablespoons sugar
Here's how you do it.
1. Place the sliced strawberries in a medium-size bowl and sprinkle with 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup Grand Marnier, Curacao, or Cointreau. Toss gently and let sit for about 30 minutes.
2. Add 3 tablespoons of sugar to the heavy cream and whip it until it forms soft peaks. Gently fold in the sour cream.
3. When ready to serve, spoon the berries into individual parfait glasses or glass bowls and top with the whipped cream mixture.
