THINKING SPRING
I know we are still in the middle of winter, but, with the unseasonably mild temperatuers we've been having it's hard not to think about the spring season. And, when we think about spring... gardening comes to mind.
This year, Sooner Foods plans on widening it's variety of lawn and garden supplies and plants. And, this year an even greater emphasis will be placed on buying locally and home grown vegetables.
Gardening can be very rewarding. Of course if we have the time and the appropriate sized plot of land our gardens can produce a good amount of fresh vegetables and fruit.
However, if you don't have the time or space for a good size garden, you can still have a rewarding growing season threw container gardening.
Container gardening offers the chance to tailor-make your spring and summer crops. Some of the vegetables and fruit that can be grown in a container garden include tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, squash, radishes, carrots, fresh herbs, tender leaf lettuces, strawberries, cabbage, cucumbers, and broccoli.
Soil selection and fertilizer are important factors in container gardening as is proper watering, but, since your gardens are tailor-designed you control your gardening effort.
Informatin about container gardening is most likely available at the local extension office.
